Welcome to Pre-K!
August 26, 2021
Dear Lovett Families and Students,
Hello and welcome to our Lovett Family! Whether you're new to Lovett or have other children here already, you will hear that our students, "LOVE IT AT LOVETT!" It is our mantra because it's so true! We believe in building community through partnerships with our families first and we take the time to really engage with you as a team. We believe that teacher-student bonds are just as important as teacher-parent bonds.
We are preparing for full-day, in-person learning, Pre-k classes and we are so excited to share what that looks like for your family this year.
First things first, please drop-off your child at the front door of the school at 6333 W. Bloomingdale. We will meet you at the front door and escort your child into the building. Also, pick-up is at 3:45 p.m. Anyone who isn't listed on the Emergency Form will not be allowed to pick up your child from the school, unless specific arrangements are made with the office. If you have a change of pick-up plans, no worries, please just let the office know at 773-534-3130 x 8.
Every student will be served breakfast and lunch and a snack. Please let me know if your child has any food allergies, or preferences or additional medical conditions on Monday, August 30, 2021. We will take great care of your babies! We just need all of the important info to ensure safety.
I will also set up accounts for each child on an app called, "Seesaw." Here students will complete all assignments in order to get ready for Kindergarten. I will also use this as a "tool" to showcase your child's progress in reading (phonics) and math by utilizing a portfolio. This program also allows us to take pictures of your child and text them to you directly, so you can see your child meeting and exceeding their social-emotional development and learning goals. We are so excited to get your child ready for Kindergarten.
Also, each student needs to wear a Lovett School uniform shirt. All shirts are for sale in the main office.
We are requiring masks in our classroom and throughout all CPS buildings to ensure safety for all. If you can pack 2-3 extra masks in your child's backpack, each day, that would be extremely helpful in maintaining a healthy classroom environment. We will have them switch out their masks at least once during the day. Should a child sneeze or lose a mask, we will use the back-up. If your child doesn't have an extra in their backpack, the school will provide one.
There is a Back To School Bash this Friday, Aug 27, 2021. The Pre-k time slot to visit is from 12:00-12:30 p.m. If you're unable to come say hello, we will see you on Monday morning. We understand that people are busy and by no means is this a mandatory meeting.
I wanted to give families a heads up that in order to reduce exposure to Covid-19, parents will not be permitted to enter the school building this year, unless approved by the security guard, located at the main entrance. We realize that this might be a little unnerving, but please know that we are doing everything that we can to prevent the spread of Covid-19. However, we've got you! We are going to take amazing care of your babies! We can take 1st day pics outside on Monday morning if you like!
Students will have their own personal cot for naptime or quiet time. Each student needs to bring a blanket and a little pillow for their rest time. I will send the blanket home each week for a wash. They will need this on Monday, if possible.
Most importantly, our students are going to have so much fun making new friends, having authentic learning experiences while having complete access to so many new play/learning centers and a brand new playground, located in the back of the Lovett School building.
All correspondence will be communicated through this site and through Seesaw. Please send me a text, identifying your name and child's name if you would like to be in direct contact with me at 312-451-1445 or email at [email protected] at any point. I love communicating with parents and caregivers and I am open to whatever works best for you!
Have a great weekend and we can't wait to meet all of you!
Sincerely,
Ms. D'Andrea, Pre-K Teacher,
Ms. Wells, Teacher Assistant
